The association, called Bling Bling Poetry Association, was formally launched on Friday afternoon to coincide with its first year of existence.
The launch ceremony took place at the Kaz Zanana art gallery in the presence of the association’s chairperson Tony Joubert (aka Raspyek), the chairperson of the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPS) Jules Hoareau, the French ambassador to Seychelles Lionel Majesté-Larrouy, and the vice-chancellor of the University of Seychelles Professor Dennis Hardy.
Mr Joubert (Raspyek) stated that the association was started last January and was officially registered in March.
“We started the association last year to see how it goes and if it was going to be a flourishing association. In that year we managed to accomplish many things and we also had our fair share of challenges. But today we are proud to have been able to overcome many obstacles and officially launch the association,” he said.
Raspyek also wanted to thank the National Arts Council (NAC), CEPS and Lardwaz association.
It was Mr Hoareau who officially launched the association.
Bling Bling Poetry Association, a non-profit making body, is composed of seven members. The association’s goal is to be able to organise a poetry festival and make poetry become a very important element in Seychelles.
