Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture has confirmed that he will be attending the World Travel and Tourism Council’s 15th Global Summit in Spain that will be preceded this year coincides with the WTTC / UNWTO Ministerial Dialogue with Private Sector CEO’s.
The World Travel & Tourism Council’s 15th Global Summit will examine the incredible power of the tourism industry to face up to the myriad of political, natural and economic risks, which constantly challenge the tourism sector.
On the other hand the Ministerial Dialogue with the Private Sector CEOs that remains a closed event is aimed at allowing for an open exchange on successes factors and challenges facing public and private sector investment in infrastructure and tourism related facilities in view of the growth forecasted for the travel and tourism sector. The dialogue that will focus on the issue of investment in view of the current challenges, the forecasted growth of the tourism sector up to 2030 and the prerequisite of investing is a sustainable manner will be chaired by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism of Spain, Jose Manuel Soria, UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai and the President and CEO of the WTTC David Scowsill.
When Minister Alain St.Ange was invited to this meeting in Spain Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) and David Scowsill, the President and CEO of the WTTC (World Tourism and Tourism Council) said that this was an opportunity for the Seychelles Minister to join leading Chairmen and Chief Executives of the tourism industry and to engage in dialogue on the business and investment opportunities to develop Travel & Tourism within Seychelles. The UNWTO and the WTTC said that they hoped that by Seychelles working closer with them the tourism industry can be the critical vehicle for promoting trade, economic growth, jobs and cross-cultural understanding.
On the 15th April Minister Alain St.Ange will also be participating on the BBC Breakfast Show with Stephen Sackur as special guest. This program will be on “Taking responsibility – measuring and communicating sustainability” . The Seychelles Minister will be sharing the floor with John D, Spengler, the Akira Yamaguchi Professor of Environmental Health & Human Habitation, Director Centre for Health and Global Environment from Havard School of Public Health and Darrel Wade, the CEO of PEAK Adventure Travel.
Minister Alain St.Ange leaves Seychelles on Monday the 13th April for a five day working visit in Spain.
